Promoting executive functioning skills

According to Harvard University’s Center on the Developing Child, executive function (EF) skills are the mental processes that enable us to plan, focus attention, and juggle multiple tasks successfully.

Evan Weinberger, CEO of Illuminos Academic Coaching & Tutoring, will offer helpful tips to teachers about how to encourage the development of strong EF skills in their students, including those with learning differences, such as ADHD. Participants will gain a greater understanding of EF skills and creative new ideas they can implement.

Developing Effective Executive Functioning Skills

In school, students are exposed to all sorts of subject matter: history, science, mathematics… and the foundational tools, such as reading and writing. What is often missing in the process is the development of core EF skills: skills that facilitate organization, prioritization, goal-setting, and time-management. These skills provide students with the capacity to maximize their learning experience and thrive in the face of learning differences in and beyond the classroom. Join in and discover how to enable your child to master those critical executive function skills.
